Perfectly Simple Applesauce

If you're needing a way to use up apples or just craving a homecooked comfort food than this recipe is definitely for you. (Assuming of course, that you love applesauce as much as my husband and I do. :D)

-4 medium cooking apples (1 1/3 lb), peeled, cut into fourths and cored. (I used Macintosh and used my apple slicer which cored and sliced into 8 pieces.)
-1/2 cup water
-1/4 cup packed brown sugar or 3 to 4 tablespoons of white sugar (I used brown)
-1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
-1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

1. In 2 quart saucepan, heat apples and water to boiling over medium heat, stirring occasionally; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to break up apples (as much or as little as you want...we like chunky so I didn't mash them), until tender.
2. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling. Boil and stir 1 minutes. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Store in refrigerator.
